Finally Heading Home!

I'm finally on the final flight from Oahu back to Maui! After five days of traveling it's hard to believe I'm actually coming home. Flying business class made everything so much easier. I got to hang out in the Asiana business lounge in Seoul, Korea with all-you-can-eat food/drinks, shower and the best high tech massage chair that I wanted to marry.

I was able to sleep on the long flights with reclining chairs and high quality food and service. Once I got to Oahu I wasn't even tired! It was so nice to hear people speaking English again. Thai people are super nice, but people in Hawaii are super nice too. Happy to get my life back! Maui No Ka Oi!

Final Days in Chiang Mai

I had four final days in Chiang Mai before heading back home. The only thing left on my bucket list was to go to the zoo, so we went and we were highly disappointed. We saw one elephant and a kangaroo, but the rest of the animals were hiding from the hot sun.

The rest of the time we ate good food, watched movies and got massages.

Overall I think these two months flew by really fast and I'm so grateful that my husband put all that work into organizing a wonderful experience for our 10-year wedding anniversary. I really wasn't expecting to like Thailand that much, so it really exceeded my expectations. With that being said, the grass is not always greener on the other side, just different. Heading back to my exotic paradise life on Maui is not too bad!

It's Happening

Wednesday, February 8, 2017:
Well folks, it's happening. I am following my inspiration and practicing trusting and it's working. I wanted to see if Maui would open her doors to me when I flew back to the nest after my trip, and she is.

The morning of my 29th birthday, I found out I got a job teaching "Creative Movement" at Horizon's Academy in Kihei, to kids with special needs. I was referred to MAPA by my friend who recently returned to the islands. She happened to be at my Bellydance gig at the Mana Kai. I am getting good feedback from the caretakers that the kids are doing things they normally can't do, smiling more and concentrating better. It makes my heart happy and adds meaning to my life that I am making a difference. Every time I teach, I am reminded of how much I enjoy it and it's simply this feeling of, "YES! This is it."

The evening of my birthday I was contacted out of the blue by my 3rd grade teacher. She is now the director of "Turnaround Arts Hawaii", Hawaii's first public arts integration school. She said she could introduce me to the director of Maui Dance Council!

I also got in with Hawaii Princess Party. They are just starting to expand from the Big Island to Maui.

These are my Ariel, Rapunzel and Tinkerbell looks:

In the past I have been motivated by ego, seeking recognition and approval through performing and being on stage. I have been motivated by fear of not having financial security and thinking that the meaning of life is paying your bills. I am really learning to trust that even if I don't know how something will work out, it always does in the perfect time. When fear no longer motivates you, inspiration does. An astrologer told me a big part of my life path and purpose is moving from being a receiver, to a giver. Saturn return, here I come!

I also made a new friend who is my age, lives really close to my street and coincidentally happens to be from Santa Barbara! She is a speech therapist and currently working with an autistic child.

The Journey is Complete

I don't feel that same fear of life and the unknown as I did when I got pneumonia. I am so happy I didn't follow the fear-based decision of going to massage school before I knew what I really wanted to do, and that my pneumonia stopped me from doing it and instead forced me to stay put and do some deep inner work and relaxation and continue on this journey. I am happy Jill's father inspired me to go to Madeira before I got sick and that even though I wasn't planning on going because it was too expensive, I found that cheap last-minute deal. The psychic told me Zen might join me at some point on this journey when the timing was right, and it was perfect and a nice surprise.

This journey has been such a good teacher in learning to trust in the Universal plan. I cannot make the wrong decision because no matter which way I choose, things will turn out exactly as they are supposed to. It's like the GPS navigator - if you get lost, it finds another way to get you to your destination.

I have gained a stronger belief in myself, a deeper sense of inner independence and freedom, reconnected with loved ones and made new connections, gained new inspiration, gotten to know myself better, worked through fear and practiced trusting. I am excited to see how I will choose to design my life from here on. Let the new beginnings start! The last cards in the tarot reading I got from the psychic before I left Maui were "Triumphant Success" and "Victory & Success". It HAS been a success!

I thank you for following along on this adventure and hope it has been inspiring for you. Feel free to share your reflections in the comments section below. Aloha!

Adventure!

6/23:
Haven’t blogged in years, but am ready to get back into it. At the Kahului Airport now waiting to board a flight to Vancouver to start a big adventure! I felt emotional yesterday and this morning about leaving, but as I got busy getting ready I started to feel excited. I am now 28 years old and my husband who I’ve been with for 10 years is being very supportive of me doing this trip by myself. It’s finally happening! It feels like it’s been a long wait because my soul has been craving this for the past couple years. I built up the courage to quit my mundane construction office job and don’t know what the next step is, but what I do know is that it’s time to break out of the cocoon and spread my wings. I have needed security and stability for a long time, but now reached the point where safe feels boring. I’ve only booked one-ways so far to Vancouver Island, Boston, Rhode Island, NYC and Sweden, and from there I’m going to follow my intuition. Stay tuned!
